NMA ON FRONTLINE
OAKLAND,
CA – Actually, you won’t be seeing NMA on Frontline’s “Modern Meat” report,
which airs tonight. That’s because
Frontline declined to interview NMA’s Executive Director despite an invitation
to do so. However, according to
Frontline’s advance promotional material, the show is going to delve into
details of Supreme Beef Processors v. USDA, a lawsuit to which NMA was
an intervenor. Even advance reviews of the show are calling it one-sided.
“Because
NMA does not believe that one-sided journalism about our industry should go
unchallenged, we’ve decided to dispel some of the myths at our website,” said
NMA Director of Communications Jeremy Russell.
You
can visit NMA’s “Modern Meat” response page online at http://www.nmaonline.org/ under
“What’s New” or directly at: http://www.nmaonline.org/NEWS___INFO/files/_Modern_Meat_/_modern_meat_.html.
Also
available at NMAonline: NMA’s correspondence with Frontline, background on Supreme
v. USDA and a photo essay that takes you inside a slaughterhouse to see
food safety efforts firsthand.
