UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET FSIS ADMINISTRATOR

Oakland, CA – National Meat Association will be partnering with the USDA Food Safety & Inspection Service (FSIS) in an industry outreach meeting in Ontario, California on Wednesday, November 2 at the Ontario Airport Marriott, 2200 E. Holt Blvd at 2:00pm.

The meeting will provide a unique forum for western meat and poultry companies to have a one-on-one with FSIS Administrator Dr. Barbara Masters and Associate Administrator Bryce Quick. The Agency wants to hear from industry representatives – especially those from small and very small plants – about how it can better carry out its food safety and public health mission.

NMA Executive Director Rosemary Mucklow and NMA Associate Director Ken Mastracchio will join with Masters and Quick in a round-table format discussion.  Dr. Neal Westgerdes, FSIS District Manager, Alameda, California, and Outreach Director Robert Tynan will also attend.

NMA is very pleased to support this open forum discussion, and strongly encourages the industry to participate.  There are no limits to the number of employees a plant may send, but companies interested in attending should register with NMA in advance – call (510) 763-1533.

National Meat Association is a non-profit trade association. Since 1946, NMA has represented meat packers and processors, equipment manufacturers and food suppliers who provide services to the meat industry. The association has members throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Australia and Mexico.
